This piece was supposed to have a watery theme
Its time for the daffodil diary to come alive. Daffodils was a dream I had a long, long time ago. A creative life of beads and ribbons, scrapbooks and boxes, fun things, silly things with lace trims and sparkling jewels. It’s time for it to come alive so lets start the journey

Textile Art
I love painting and I love texture, colour, stitching and usually a bit of glitter. I almost always have a picture on the go so here are a few examples of some of the paintings I have done recently.

Mums Birthday Card
A card with a sewing theme. Using Dovecraft family ties paper pad. I stamped the scissors and buttons using Crafty Individuals stamp CI-328. Can someone explain to me how to do stamping properly. I had black ink everywhere. I smudged it I don't know how many times and got black fingerprints on the paper and had to start again so in the end I gave up with the sewing machine and downloaded a digi stamp off the internet. I love these little envelopes on cards. You can find loads of templates on the internet but the one I use is attached. I used my lovely Martha Stewart border punch for the top and just added some embellishments.

Corset using transfer paints.
Do you like this corset I made?. The fabric and lace started off plain white but I used transfer paints to print my own design on to it and I used punched paper shapes, wool, leaves to create the patterns. I am really pleased at how vibrant the colours have come out. Once printed I used machine embroidery to embellish it.

Embroidered Picture

Another kit from 3DJean was to make a canvas bag decorated with transfer paints and a bit of stitching. I thought I'd better practise on a piece of fabric before I started on the bag but the transfer worked out well and as I love embroidery I just kept sewing in to it. It's not brilliant but I enjoyed sewing again which I haven't done for a while.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I've got loads of work to do today. I'm doing a NCFE textiles course which is great but it does take up alot of my spare time doing homework, less time for my crafty experiments. First job today: I need to get some fabric and a design ready for machine embroidery and another for hand embroidery, ready for this evenings class. I'll let you know how I get on. I could also do a page in my sketch book based on applique. Job 2: I enter a piece of work to an Art Raffle each month. This months theme is orange and black. I found an orange and black brooch this morning that I made earlier but I might make a Halloween card to go with it. There's loads of other stuff I need to be getting on with. I want to do a big picture comprising of lots of small collages. I want it finished by Christmas. I've only made 2 small squares so far so I reckon I need to try and make 2-3 squares a week and I'd better make some more Christmas cards and gift boxes too. Job 3 today: I meet a group each week from Middlesbrough Social Inclusion and we do arty crafty things. We're doing a display along with the other groups that come into the library for the Learning Shop Window so I need to make a start on that too. Better get a move on.
